How to Care for Streetwear, Garment by Garment

CARE GUIDE

Post image

Different garments, different care: the wash cycle that suits one piece wears another one out.

Most care advice arrives as one generic laundry list, as if a heavyweight hoodie and a lightweight tee want the same treatment. They do not. Each garment in a streetwear rotation has its own weak points, and caring for it well mostly means knowing where those are.

Hoodies

Heavy knits keep their shape best when they are washed rarely. Air a hoodie out after wearing it, spot-clean small marks with a damp cloth, and save the full wash for when it genuinely needs one. When wash day comes, tie the drawcords in a loose knot first so they do not disappear into the channel. Afterward, fold it on a shelf; hanging a heavy hoodie by the hood slowly stretches the neckline out of shape.

Tees

Rotation is the quiet secret of tee care: several tees each washed occasionally will all outlive one tee washed constantly. Rinse the underarm area soon after a heavy day rather than letting residue set into the fabric, and dry tees flat when you can, so the neckband keeps its snap instead of sagging under its own wet weight.

Pants

Close every zipper and button before pants go in the wash, or the hardware will chew on whatever shares the drum. Heavyweight cotton pants rarely need frequent washing; airing out between wears does most of the work. And when a crease needs attention, reach for steam before a hard iron, which can press a permanent shine into dense fabric.

Outer Layers

Jackets ask for the least frequent care and the most seasonal care. Empty every pocket before a layer goes into storage, give it one proper clean at the end of the season, and store it on a wide hanger with room around it. When the season turns again, check seams, snaps, and cuffs early, while every fix is still a small one.

Looked after this way, a rotation stays in rotation. You can see what we currently stock at https://wesdawg.com, and if a care question comes up mid-load, our FAQs cover the practical side of ordering and keeping pieces.
